Criteria

  • 16 years of education from an HEC recognized university
  • Degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, Sciences or Management
  • 4+ years of work experience   
  • Clearance of Entrance Test
  • Interview Selection by CPPG Selection Committee
  • Minimum CGPA 2.75
  • 16 years of education from an HEC recognized university
  • Degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, Sciences or Management
  • Submission of a Research Proposal (1000 words)
  • Clearance of Entrance Test
  • Interview Selection of short listed candidates by CPPG Selection Committee
  • Minimum CGPA 2.75
  • M-Phil or MS (with research)/equivalent as prescribed by HEC in areas related to Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Economics, Sociology and broadly Social Science and Humanities.
  • CGPA not less than 3.0 (First Division in the Annual System) 
  • Clearance of Entrance Test
  • Submission of Research Proposal (1500 – 2000 words)
  • An interview with the PhD Selection Committee will be conducted with reference to the candidates’ academic qualification, experience and performance in the admission test. It will further assess candidate’s research competence, aptitude and motivation.

Application Checklist

  1. An attested copy of the original Matriculation / O level result (web downloaded results are not acceptable)
  2. In case of O Level, a minimum of 8 subjects must have been passed
  3. An attested copy of the original Intermediate / A level / High School result (web downloaded results are not acceptable)
  4. In case of A Level, a minimum of 3 subjects must have been passed
  5. A and O Level and American High School Students have to submit a copy of their Equivalence Certificate (Attested and stamped from IBCC)
  6. Attested copies of the final transcript of 4-year Honors / 2-year Conventional Bachelors and / or 2-year Conventional Masters degree
  7. Students having a foreign Bachelor’s Degree must get their Equivalence from HEC
  8. Two reference letters
  9. Statement of purpose (150 – 200 words) describing the reason(s) why the student is applying to the program, long-term goals and the reason(s) for selecting the Centre for Public Policy and Governance. 
  10. Research experience if any (please mention the organization, designation and nature of experience)
  11. List of publications (if any)
  12. Two recent passport-sized photographs
  13. One copy each of the student’s CNIC and of the father/guardian
  14. Receipt of the application processing fee (Rs. 3,500)

  • A Research Proposal (1500-2000 words): including the research questions that the applicant would like to explore in the PhD program. Provide background, justification, and significance of research questions, and a brief methodology. The applicant’s response should reflect some familiarity with social science research methods.
  • A personal statement (maximum 1000 words), highlighting why the applicant wants to pursue PhD in public policy.
  • Two reference letters from people who have worked with the applicant and who can testify to her/his writing and research capabilities.

Entrance Exam Paper

  • Examination duration will be 2 hours. 
  • A short essay on a public policy issue facing Pakistan or South Asia. The essay will require giving a reasoned understanding of the given issue.
  • A mathematical section. This section will be similar to the mathematical section of the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE).
  • A section consisting of short questions on public policy issues to assess applicant’s analytical capacity.
  • A brief comments section (maximum one page) on the policymaking institutions of Pakistan to check applicant’s familiarity with them

You have multiple options available to pay your fee through the following channels:

  • HBL Online Internet Banking and Mobile Application
  • Meezan Bank Internet Banking and Mobile Application
  • ConnectPay by PayPro under which there are more than 10 partner banks in addition to above two. 
  • Cash over the Counter

There is on campus HBL Bank branch for the payment of admission processing fee.

What types of career opportunities are available for M-Phil and Exec MA graduates?2022-01-04T16:23:30+00:00

Graduates of M-Phil Public Policy may look for teaching, analysis, research opportunities in Colleges, Think Tanks, Government, NGOs & IGOs, and private sector 

Executive MA participants are already working, and the degree supports them in achieving their career goals within the organization, or switch their career.   

Are there any scholarships or financial aid available for MPhil, Exec MA or PhD programs?2022-01-04T16:22:42+00:00

There are no merit scholarships or TA ships available for the M-Phil program, Executive Master and PhD Programs. However, students can search and apply for government scholarships.

Can I take the M-Phil program while working?2022-01-04T16:22:03+00:00

MPhil is a rigorous full time program and cannot be taken along with full time work. We recommend that you either take time off or switch to part time work while taking the program. 

Can I take the Executive MA program while working?2022-01-04T16:21:17+00:00

Yes, the class hours are scheduled from 4pm – 8pm specifically for in-service people in mind. 

Should I enroll in Executive MA or in M-Phil program?2022-01-04T16:20:33+00:00

Exec MA is a professional program which caters to working professionals and requires a minimum of four years of work experience while MPhil is a research degree program which caters to young graduates.

You can join us at the Open House or call CPPG to get an appointment with a faculty member to learn more about the program. Detailed information is available on the Academics Tab of the website. 

Accommodation

On-campus Hostel facility is available for girls only. For boys, there is an option of getting a rented accommodation (in a shared house) around FCCU in Gulberg.
